LS/VTEC w/ Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams
I plan on running LS/VTEC w/a GSR Head with Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams and Skunk2 valve train on a stock bottom b18b. would this setup be safe or will i have major problems? Oh i am planning on turbocharging soon, so would p72 pistons be good to keep the CR down a little to around 10.1-.2:1 with my setup? TIA

i had that exact same set up, ls/vtec with s2 stage 2's, gsr head and so on. the problem that i found was that you have to rev pretty high to get the full benefit of those cams. this will lead to spun bearings (several in my case) on just a few months of use. or worse yet you could throw a rod, either way its a less then ideal situation. just make sure if you do anything you should go with an ARP rod bolt/head stud kit. that would help out with the spun bearing problem. if you want to go turbo you can do what I almost did, which was trade you cams for a turbo kit (or at least some key parts) I really cannot speak with any authority when it comes to what CR you should run for boost, that is all up to you. Try the FI section for that. How much boost anyway?

I will be trading my brother with my Skunk2 Stage 2 cams when i turbocharged with his ITR cams or put in stock GSR cams... will this be safe? Also i can get p72 GSR pistons and rods, should i go ahead and use the gsr rods also? or use the LS rods and have them machined to fit.. thanks for the reply
If you're running the skunk2 s2 cams, you'll have valve/piston clearance problems with the stock pistons. You need to machine or get pistons with deep valve relief area.
