Default DC2R lower control arms

Will they fit? Can I just buy some brand new ones and toss them on my 88 without any problems......or will camber or toe be off? IF so, then would a toe and camber kit correct the problem?

I only ask b/c my bolt in my lower control arm is seized up and won't come out no matter what i do. I figure it will just be easier to buy a brand new set with some nice new bushings. Aftermarket lca's are really expensive and I know you can get these pretty cheap.........$40-$60 a side.......much cheaper than SRR or SPC, and fucntion 7 if you can find'em. I dont need the shock so its ok if it's attached to the arm when i remove it.

Any help would be appreciated.......thanks

i though they do? since the 88 crxs came with them, but w/o sway bar mounting holes. I have heard of people use them though....

I know, not an answer to your post, but dont let this guy rule it out.

Did you want to run eye-lit type shocks?

seriously? do you realize that if he bought those he would have to get new shocks while he was at it? 88 shocks wont fit on the 89-91 lca's. different mounting method

??? mine weren't. xact same length as the ED units. i pulled them off the car myself. either way, if you are doing this, your car is probly lowered, in which case you should get a camber kit. that would fix the length problem if there was one.

What makes DC2R LCA's special?

Is it an 'upgrade' of sorts for 89-91 cars?

The ITR style is lighter and stronger.

same style as the 1988 Civic/crx's. but the ITR is 1/16" longer.

So the 88 CRX and Civic use the same LCA?

I thought I read (think it was on an archive search here) only the 88 CRX had the ITR style rear LCA.

Sobe, so you actually did this swap and had no problems? If so, and its a direct replacement then i may have to make a trip to acura, or at least a phone call.

crx 88.........if the arms are in fact 1/16th of an inch different ....how much could that seriously affect camber? I'm just guessing it can't be too much, but a camber kit is definitely going to be put in place which i THINK would help the issue.

Jonathan.......88 civics and CRX's had the "eye hole" style lca, but switched in 89 due to compaints from american drivers about being to "twitchy" at high speeds. JDM crx's retained the eye hole throughout its entire production.

Great information in this thread!

I was under the assumption that only the CRX's had the eye hole style LCA.

At any rate, it would SEEM that the cast LCA's would be stronger than the 'eye hole' LCA's. I haven't inspected the latter too closely, but if I remember correctly, they're not actually boxed in. Instead, it looks like a trailing arm in which one edge is just exposed.

Many people refer to these as 'boxed', but they're not a TRUE box. Instead, they are essentially C-Frame. Strong, yes...but not really a box.

If this is the case, are these things really that strong? Lighter, I'm sure..but are they really that much stronger?

This is all, of course, just from a looks standpoint. I know something that is cast is inherently weak etc. Just curious!
