ITR cam install, do I need springs, retainers, valves?
I am thinking about putting in my itr cams and aem gears as well as a timing belt change on my b16a gen 1. I wont push the engine more than 8,500 so can I just change out the cams only or do I need to use different springs, retainers, valves, etc?
I am trying to understand the point of putting in ITR cams if you will not use them all of the way, esp. since power (HP) peak would not be until 8600-8800 rpm, and prob you would want to rev to 9k or so on hard driving to keep your power up well into the VTEC with the next gear.....Also valvetrain upgrade will help protect against over revs, etc......
also its not like ITR cams, make power that past 8000rpm anyways....why only the intake???becuase the exhaust doesn't really make that much difference from the dynos, people who upgraded first with the intake then added exhaust cam, gained only 1-3hp....for the price, you can buy something that makes more difference then this....
also yes when you go and buy a cam go with CTR, if not avalible simply go for 2000-01 ITR cams, they have slightly better profile then the 97-99specs cams (yes there was '99 ITR, here in Canada)

already got i/e cams from a 97, only paid $300 shipped so no real loss. I think I will go turbo anyways this winter. I currently run n20 75 shot, would these cams be friendly with nitrous considering that I have apexi vafc and cam gears to tune?
