What better shifters are out there like ones for auto x and road racing events. Most short thows lower the height of the shifter making it farther from the steering wheel and worse for racing with. I want something that is taller and better. I am thinking stock might be my only way but I want something maybe even a little taller then that. I might make my own if I cant find anything but I really dont want to have to reinvent the wheel.

keep in mind the pics its on a del sol and del sold tend to have the shifter higher then other hondas.

 

but the throw won't be like a short shifter, you cut it so that it feels better and you're less likely to miss shift. try it costs nothing but time. stock shifters are usually high, so you cut it in relation to what feels like the right height, what car is this for?

 

this is for a 96 civic with b18 turbo, what I want is not a real short throw but I want something where the *** is closer to the steering wheel for racing.

 

that fast line site isnt coming up, is it just me?

 

ok if you think the stock height is good, then why don't you just get a taller shifter ****?

Most of the tall shift ***** dont really have a good feel to them and I like the one I have. Also I am looking for a shifter that is taller and shifts the same distance which means it is extend in both directions from the ball, a taller **** will only make my shift longer.

 

what i use is a 1st or 2nd gen eclipse shift ****, its about 2" taller than the oem honda, i like using its more comfortable and all, hope that helps.

 

ITR shifter is the best shifter you can buy.

yeah I heard the shifters that are made by honda are designed to balance the weights of the shift linkage and stuff, I wonder what the exact differences are between the ITR and a stock 96 EX

 

grab a stock del sol's shifter. They come stock with a short shifter.

 

stock gsr and 99-00si shifters are the same and are taller than stock sohc civic shifters. thats your best bet, taller, oem quality and reasonably priced.

 

Skunk2 Short Shifter maintains stock heigth but gives you a shorter throw. It works real well. Kinda pricey though; I say short throw shifters are merely for the 'fun of it'. No real benefits if you think about it. . . Still the same clutch pedal travel is required. ...

 

Short shifters actually improve 60 foots.....

Maybe buy a short shifter, and lengthen the lever itself, cut and weld perhaps?
That way you get the best of both worlds... Food for thought anyway

It is a very strong shifter, which is much taller, but due to the careful engineering has the same throw as stock even though it is taller. Basically it is a short throw shifter, with a much longer handle that has been carefully balanced to make shifting feel like stock. The shifter should come up to within 6" of your wheel in first gear. I know a couple people that bought these and are very happy with them.

do you work for them or something? i get that vibe

 

you could try also a 1st gen Eclipse/Talon ****. They are more like a fat pistol-grip style rather than a ball and are a bit taller than most. They come in leather and you cant beat the grip and feel.
