Default Problem with gauge cluster needle

Hi everyone, I am fairly new to this forum but saw many interesting and helpful topics on here. I have a problem with my mph gauge on my gauge cluster. When I purchased the cluster the needle was below the little black thing (I don't know what it's called) that holds it at 0 mph. When I installed the cluster on the car everything worked fine except for the mph gauge. The needle moves clockwise but gets stuck right when it hits that little black holder. My question is, can I readjust this and how? I know I should return it to the person I bought it from, but if there's an easy way to re-adjust the needle so it'll sit on top of the holder instead of below it,, I'd rather do that than go through all the hassle. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Unless you have 2000 dollars to buy a special Snap On tool to do this, i would just return it to the owner and ask for money back.

Over a stupid needle?

Just get a new cluster. A stock one is like 15 bucks

Have you tried to remove the clear plastic cover and just spinning the needle counter clockwise back to the stopper? Like you are adjusting a clock. I know that the needles move freely and might have just bumped around to where it sits now. Don't try to pull it over the post but rather just sweep it 306 degrees untill it rests on the post again.

I did a write up this a while ago, theres a couple of things you can do, The snap-on tool would be the EASIEST way to reset your needle but there are a couple of other options.
These are all untested by me so i cant verify if this will actually work or not but hopefully it will help you out.

1st- Take off the clear plastic covering your needles and reinstall the cluster in your dash. Take off your needle. You'll need a friend to help you with this, drive down the road and pace someone doing exactly 20 mph and press the needle back onto the pin showing you at 20mph

2nd- Take off the needle, and turn on the car, press the needle back on at 0mph

i perfer the way i did it with the scan tool-
I jacked the front end up and hooked up the tool and read the output of the speedo sensor set the cruise control and pressed the needle on at that speed there might be something else you can use with obd2 but my car is obd1 so i needed the expensive tool cause it told me on the screen without having to later hook it up to my computer so.......

Good luck!
