I lost my damn car keys but my car is totaled anyway..i'm wondering how to disengage the mechanism that locks your steering wheel into place...i have no problem ripping the crap out of it so whatever way works, let me know.

 

Turn the steering wheel as hard as you possibly can. Slam it REAL hard - the lock will break.

Or, tear down the steering column and remove the whole ignition.

Maybe slam a screwdriver in there, tiwst away, and ultimately destroy it.


I guess it depends on how destructive you are feeling that day... haha!

 

if you take the cover off and look up from the bottom you will see two (ROUND) looking screw heads that look kind of like rivits, take a hacksaw or somthing that can cut the metal and cut a stright grove in it. then use a flat blade screw driver and take it out like a regular screw.... some times you can just hit the screwdriver with a hammer in the "lefty losey" direction and it will unscrew them.

just do this..so that you don't have to destroy the ignitiom switch..once you break that lock unit..it useless..tha is if you still want to keep the ignition and go make a key for it.
