Default intermediate shaft, stripped bottom bolt hole. wtf now?

yeah.. just like it says... the bottom bolt hole on my block has been stripped out... all the threads came out with the bolt... this is the bottom 1 of 3 holes that bolt the half shaft to the block...

any suggestions on how to fix this? can that hole be rethreaded and then use a bigger bolt?

open to suggestions..

you can just rethread it or maybe use a helicoil..ive used only 2 bolts before because of stripped threads and had no problems though.

whats a helicoil?

u think the 2 top bolts will hold it good enough?

i plan do do some serious 1/4 mile track attacks in the near future.. would hate for that shaft to somehow rip off and cause who knows what kind of damage...

a helicoil is basically a replacement thread..you have to drill out the hole that was stripped and insert the helicoil..theyre made in different sizes and thread pitch,so there should be an application that works perfect for that hole. They sell them at auto parts stores.

I had the same problem. Mine is now Helicoiled and holding great! Just go to napa auto parts and bring the bolt with you and order a Helicoil kit. Make sure you also buy the correct drill bit to go with it...its only a few $$ more.

curious, how do you drill out hole if you can't take motor out? I stripped all three and now the bracket is just hanging there. I can't get a drill in there.
