I have been using one for the last 7 years. But, incase you haven't noticed, it is actually a Porter-Cable polisher that Meguire's sells. I purchased the Porter-Cable and use it with the Meguire's pads and waxing products. It does an outstanding job and it saves you a lot of time and effort. I highly recommend it

Nothing against Meguire's, but you would save some money if you buy the Porter-Cable. Just do a search on Porter Cable 7424. I did a quick search on the web, I found one place that sold it for $119 and I saw where Amazon.com sells it for $129 with free shipping.

Awesome! Thanks!

Are there any tricks to using it, or is it pretty much idiot proof?

It pretty idiot proof. All you need to do is set the speed dial between 1 & 2 and start buffing. I mainly use it for applying cleaner or polish since I use Meguire's paste wax (Gold Class). You will want to use a different pad for each product (ie. do not use different products on the same pad).

FYI, Griot's Garage ( http://www.griotsgarage.com ) also sells the Porter Cable polisher for $199 ( http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=10625 ). They also sell a wax removal bonnet for $14.95 ( http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=11536 ) for removing wax and polish.

I have one also. I don't use it that often though. I use it with 3M swirl mark remover about twice a year to get rid of swirls. works great. check out http://www.autopia-carcare.com they have some good articles about it.

If you guys want the absolute best price on this porter cable orbital buffer, check out http://www.coastaltool.com. They normally go for $115 there. You may also want to purchase the accessory kit that http://www.properautocare.com sells for this machine, as it makes it much easier to work with.
