Qeastion about spark plugs
Hey guys. This is pretty much a newbie qeastion. I had an idea for added security. In my case I'll be at school most of the time and my car wont be moving too much. So I was thinking of just adding hoodlocks and just unpluging my spark plug wires from the sparkplug holes. They'd still be connected to the dizzy, but woulnt be plug into the valve cover. Flame away guys. But I'm just wondering if that'll do any damage to the engine at all if someone tried to start it? Or would it just not do anything because of no spark? I tried a search, but nothing came up on it. thanks ahead of time.
yea already got an alarm. I'll wire a fuel switch and a clutch switch as well. Just some added extra for my peice of mind..but I mean you cant start the car withouth the plugs so find the switch no biggie..still cant get into the hood. As for an alarm that cuts off the fuel injectors..alarms can always be bypass..kind of want a hardware way to not getting the car to move unless they have the flatbed..then basically I'm screwed.

It's called the Autolock. Got the pro model at ricer zone for about $45.

Ya you could always unplug one, if a thief pops the hood though or try and start the car and it cranks but doesnt turn, thats probably the first thing thyll look for, and thats kind of a hassle for you. Maybe just take out a fuse thats needed to start out of you fuse panel and put it under your floormat or something

Well..to be honest with you guys. i already have the autolock..detachable steering wheel..will have those two hidden switches for the fuel pump and clutch..so basicaly most of it is taken care of..i wanted a way to make my car not start without having to unplug the ecu. I was also told that the car might start with 3 plugs still in. But there are hoodlocks ontop of that so the theif cant get into the hood. So thanks guys for the answers. I was just afraid it would hurt the motor if somone tried to start it without the plugs. Just wasnt sure.

Yeah, I've seen people drive on 3 cylinders before, but I wouldn't reccomend it.

I think unplugging the ecu or taking out the ECU or injector / starter fuses would be more productive than the spark plugs. They weren't meant to be taken out repeatedly, and I'd worry about stripping or damaging the threads. Also, it seems like there's a huge PITA factor for that. Maybe if I was storing the car for a while, I'd take them out, but not on a daily basis.

Actually, he was just talking about unplugging the spark plug wires, not the plugs themselves.

yea..just the plug guys..simple and hopefully effective..I'd think I'd loose fuses knowing me or even misplace the ecu haha in my dorm..but yea..thanks for the replies..i'm def gonna just do it since it doesnt seem to hurt the motor. That was my main concern.
