Default 2.25 exhaust diameter too small?(searched)

i seaarched, and most apps are 2.5 inches and 3 inches for turbo apps. i was wondering if a 2.25 would be that obstructive on a low turbo set up, like on a greddy turbo kit. thanks

The general concensus is that the least amount of backpressure with a turbo the better. That is why so many people run open downpipe. You really should run something a little bigger but you could get away with 2.25.

you'll definately increase power and response w/ a 3" exhaust system even on a Greddy kit

am I the only one who thinks that 2.25 is reasonable? it definately not optimum, but if it's 2.25 all the way back and is mandrel bent, I don't think it will be too bad.

granted you might want to drop it for the track, but on the street I think you'll be ok

yes i am

i know theres a lot of backpressure being held with that exhaust... i can feel it on top end...

the 20 whp will be a more climbing peak after around 3500.......... IMO without all that backpressure the turbo will do more of what its supposed to..... if i can get a dyno with it and without ill post it......
i am waiting to get a TE chipped PM6 before i go tune it

the less backpressure the better--- i switched from a 60mm greddy to a full 3" and it was night and day. i honestly woudl never do a turbo kit again unless i did a 3" downpipe and 3" exhaust.

get a 3": increase spool time, high end, power output, and gas mileage and we all know thats why we put the 3" on there!

Talk to GSRwBoost about this, I think his GSR had about 300whp on a Greddy 60mm (2.36") exhaust. Low power setups (<250whp) will have less to gain from a big exhaust than a big power setup. Your Greddy turbo setup will probably not lose too much to the 2.25" exhaust, but you'll need to switch it out if you upgrade to a more powerful setup.

pretty sure he could be making about 320 with just a 3" exhaust

the book maximum boost said that 2.5 mendrel bent exhaust is good till 500 hp. i know its not optimum, but... if youre gonna be running on a small turbo (t25, greddy kit 19t, 14b) and low boost, how much are you gonna open up between a 2.25 exhaust or a 60mm and a 2.5?

maybe 10 hp? Your right 2.25 or 2.5 will work. But you will always get better gains on bigger exhaust, that way you have the LEAST amount of back pressure. 2.25 is fine if you arent too worried about getting the most out of your engine.
