5 days to danbury meet (an engine swap story) (56k just go make a sandwich)
ok well some of you probably know that there is a big *** meet in Danbury Connecticut on June 12th. in anticipation of this i wanted to get my new rex turboed for the meet. however with the work i had left and the problems i had i would never had made the meet.
so i figured id just run down there stock.... i get the engine running good as new, change the timing belt get a header, swap over the intake from my b16 crx and get PHiZ to hook me up with an ecu.
after all that work tho... i couldn't get it to go into gear when it was running, probably caused by the clutch pressure plate. since the car was a theft recovery when i bought it led me to believe that the thief really did "drive it like he stoled it"
so with only 5 days to get the Danbury i get to work on swapping out my b16 into my new crx. i originally planned on building it out of the car, but since i told ppl that i would be there i had to keep my word and show up.
DAY ONE
on day one i worked from 730am to 1230 pm. after i got home i went right to wrenching. i started by bulling the D series out of my new rex. by 1am the next morning the engine was out and lifted above the crx with pride.

hear i am (after watching too much worlds strongest man) in my Atlas pose lifting the engine out

me and my friends say goodbye to the D-series in the standard fashion
DAY TWO
day 2 i work from 730 to 2.(feeling like hell from being dehydrated from being stupid and not drinking anything the day b4) then i go register my car, and get it insured. by 330 im home wrenching again. i ended this night at 130 the next morning...
we ended up taking the B16 out of my old crx (the red one), and it bolted into the new crx
it was alot easier since i could just cut anything that was in the way

with my father helping me things worked alot faster. however he used to work on old Chevy's and other domestics back in his day. so he has no love for the Honda
(but really he likes it)

i think i have "VTEC y0h" already. the sparks must be the supa powa jdm vtec kickin in

never let this kid near your car... he either doing the "jdm pose" or just being lame... not sure which.

doesn't it look faster when the wheels are turned like that

i need new friends... hes seen to many ricer magazines with wheel ads.... but damn... what woman wouldn't want that....
DAY THREE
short day... woot...
i work from 730-12, then go and buy some engine supply goodies (oil, syncromesh, filter, coolant, etc.)
i get home and am dragging *** from two 19 hour days
so i just did a lil bit of stuff.
pu the alternator back on,get all the vac lines and hoses back on, gas lines, lil bit of the electronics, and the axles. i was too tired to take pix. but i got one

if ya want the red one ill sell it to ya
DAY FOUR
FINISHED
today i went about cleaning up the wiring that the kid did for the multi point swap that he did. i cut off about 30 pounds of electical tape, and put black casing arround the wires (NOT THAT RICEY RED OR YELLOW CRAP) hahahh
after that i put the shift linkages, wheels, intake, exhaust downpipe, ect. all back on.
after a lil trouble shooting and some quick wiring work from the the wiring guru PHiZ i was able to start the car up.

start of day 4. rain expected, but never shown since we put the tent up

oh man what one do i want hahah you can never have too many ecu's

my father helping build my down pipe

man i should have Mobile send me money

if you need ecu tuning or wideband tuning. this is the man to talk to

i kinda want a doughnut.... mmmmm

they took the camara and turned it against me AHHHH...

IT RUNS... holy crap...

hears the amazing bit.... it still runs
well thats it. i did the swap in 4 days. and i feel it turned out pretty well. tomorrow ill just take some time and clean it up and just finish up some lil stuff that i need to do.
i wanna thank everyone that helped, mike, joe, pat (even if i did have to kick you off my property once)
Phiz, and most of all to my father who took today off to help me get the car done, and stayed up until 1 in the morning the first 2 days, even tho he had to wake up at 4:45 the next morning.

Motor swaps are a bitch. But i'd do another
so did you find anything out about that cluster/cable?
