I have owned the tdx sub, and so has atf kuk on this board.

It is a nice sub. Give it 1000 watts and you will be happy. I used to power it with an Arc 1500dr, which I might sell for the right price

I've heard they aren't that loud, but SQ is good.

Adire makes really good stuff for relatively cheap.

TDX are spl subs. They aren't meant to be the best for sq. My friend is hitting 158.2 db on 1 TDX 15. If that isn't loud then I don't know what is. Diamond makes really good product. I was going to get 2 - 12 (M6) but ended up getting 2 Boston Pro 12.5 LF for $270.00/ pair. So that is the route that I went.

they're loud n clear.

this is coming from a man who owned a 10W7 and currently is running 1500 watts to his 12" resonant engineering xxx sub in a ported enclosure.

I was possibly involved in that thread. In the end the main antagonist backed down a bit, and said that the tdx was not crap, but he thought there were better options with bl optimization.

Since the shop i work at is both a Diamond Audio, and JL Audio dealer, Ive heard both the TDX 10" and the JL 10w7 side by side and frankly the JL doesnt sound as good. The TDX is more precise, and has more accurate bass reproduction. The JL is boomy-er. If pure SPL is what you are trying to achieve, then the W7 is the way to go. If you are looking for a superior, high quality sub with a high overhead for power, then get the TDX. The TDX sub will take about a month to break in properly in order for it to sound good. The W7 performs right out of the box. However the foam surround on the W7 gives me hesitation in terms of durability. My nod would go to the TDX sub based upon price, performance, and design. I'll let you know in about a month when get around to building a box for the TDX 10 i have waiting to go into a EG hatch. Ill be powering it with the diamond D7402 at 4ohm bridge. Thats 1600 watts. We'll see how that goes.

I heard the W7 in a slot ported JL box that they make for that sub. Im not sure what its tuned to. The TDX was in a standard ported box tuned to 30hertz. Both are given 1000 watts each. In my opion, the TDX just sounded better. I dont like a whole lot of boomy bass since i listen to alot of diffrent types of music, and the W7 is a bit too inaccurate for me.

A lot of people don't like the JL boxes. Many say that the w7 sounds 3x better in a custom box.

I'm not really a ported box kinda guy anyway

He might change his mind if he heard one in a good sealed box. I'm not saying they're the best ever, just that the word inaccurate should not be used in the same sentence as w7.
