Hood pins needed for Fiber Image Carbon fiber hood?
I know a guy who had one, didn't use hoodpins, and it came off at 70 MPH (the CF hood part seperated from the still-latched underskeleton) and dented the chit outta his roof. Your call
but...was it a Fiber Images. I've seen photos of quite a few mishaps like your talking about...but none of them were FI
Ive never heard of a Fiberimages hood coming up. I know many guys running them with no pins with no problems. Dont they advertise as being a hood that pins arent necessary for?
hood pins = peace of mind
With a quality hood, you probably don't need them... Kaminari, Fiber Images, DG, etc...
But if your hood is cheap (and you know who you are), then you better do it just to be safe.
Those occasional jaunts up to 140mph won't be so scary with hood pins, now will they?

On the subject of hood pins, which way should they be mounted? I've seen them mounted "horizontally" or "vertically" (looking down onto the car from above).
Not sure the reasoning why for each.

hmmm...i think ill get some hoodpins..i dont want my hood falling off!! ne ways, i guess the question now is whats a good looking hood pin thats not too expensive?
oh and one more question, should i get hood pins or hood locks? whats the difference between the two? is the installation basically the same? the reason im asking this is because i might need to get rid of my factory latch to fit my hood..thanks
Yea pins are a smart move. Especially if you're like me and didnt replace the rubber trip from the OEM hood. Too much air gets under there and I've seen instances where w/o the pins my hood would have released. Also if you do pins you can loose the wieght of the latch mechanism. (i'd recomend some hood locks at that point though.) I mounted my pins horizontally, i just liked the way it looked.

hey, if you guys want to buy a set of locking hood pins IM me - ChachiX
I bought a set (actually 2, one for me and one for my friend from JCWhitney) Well I cancelled my carbon fiber hood and I have them sitting there. I paid (i think) $27.?? after shipping. I'll sell em for $20. No big deal to send them. It's a small package.

guilty got the hood for free wasnt best quality so i got the hood pins to be safe
I have a cwestin hood and I bought a pair of Sparco hood pins but havent installed them yet. The hood is so light it moves up and down at freeway speeds. Im afraid the hook where it latches will break. Has anyone ever heard of this? Im not a big fan of hood pins but I would feel more comfortable about my $650 dollar investment.
