Default d16z6 swap problems...

Ok I am still having problems... my car wont start after my d16z6 swap

First off lemme break it down so you know what I have done to get this motor in.
I used the intake manifold, throttle body, feul rail and injectors from my a6. I used the a6 harness. Its a straight up z6 long block (head and block). I am trying to run my stock pm6 ecu (I did this cause I cant afford the p28 or the jumper harness). Basically everything electrical I am using is from my a6, except for the distributor. Now I repinned the obd1 distributor with the white plug from my a6 dizzy.

Heres what happens...
It starts up intially but then takes a ****... wont stay running. The injectors are getting intial start up pulse but wont fire in sequence after that. The ecu is giving me a code 8, which from my understanding is a TDC code. I have tried another distributor and it does the same.

I know I should go out and get a obd0-obd1 jumper harness, a p28 and a 4 wire o2. But right now I cant afford that.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what the problem could be?

Think maybe if I rig up another a6 dizzy the car might run?

Thanks in advance...

Since you are using the PM6 ecu, you will need to use the OBD0 distributor. The Z6 distributor will not work with the PM6.

Yup.

And if you are short on cash, you might want to consider doing the ECU plug cojnversion yourself. It is really not as hard as you think.

He's right, you need to use your A6 distributor. I just did basically the same swap, but i used a Y8. I used my A6 distributor.

It may not be that hard. But if you want to keep yer pm6 intact, then you have to buy another pm6 (for the female plugs), a p28, and an obd1 engine harness (for the male plugs).

I agree that it is not that hard. But for the price and availabity of the parts needed, it might just be easier, and perhaps cheaper, to buy the conversion harness from somewhere like http://www.vtecfrog.com.

Lemme just say, thanks!!!

Guys i repinned my stock a6 dizzy rigged it on the z6 head and she runs!! Thats all I needed for now.

But lemme just recommend to anyone doing this swap, GET ALL THE WIRING CONVERSION NECESSARY FOR 0BD1!!! With the dizzy rigged like this you cant adjust the timing much, and it runs like ****!!!

I am currently saving for a jumper harness and a ECU so that she will run cherry.

Once again thanks guys

buy the ecu ,but be careful on a jumper harness.i just did a d16y7 to a d16z6 and the jumper harness caused more problems than if i had done my own plug.obd2 to a obd1. good luck!!!

If you notch the front of the top distributor leg, and the top of the front distributor leg, you can have full timing adjustability.

Ya, I pretty much got it now. Played with it a bit and now its almost perfectly on timing. It runs like a champ. I am still running my pm6 ecu. I just ghetto wired a switch to VTEC. But I didnt imagine a single cam to pop VTEC like this one. Pretty good running little car now.

The converion harness is in, its a boomslang. I am just waiting on a ECU to install it. I already have the 4 wire o2 sensor and the obd1 dizzy of course.

Now I just want a little boost on this bad boy

Just go to the junkyard and find pm5 ecus.. When I go there I always take a mini torch with me so I can remove the plugs from the ecu and just pay for the plugs.. I think I pay $5 for a **** load of plugs..
