Default continuing my research, before I get my cycle.

I'm just here because of all the bike forums so far I've visited this one seems like the better one.

I've been riding a motorscooter I bought myself from an online dealer for about seven months. And now I am considering moving on to a motorcycle.

I started taking the Motorcycle safety course last year but didnt complete it. I was just too short for the training motorcycles they had available, they told me they would waive my class fee if I came again, because I told them I would come back with a bike that would better suit me for the course. I could have taken it with my scooter but I just got too caught up on things.

I know the basics on motorcycle riding. I know I am not 100% educated on the use of a cycle, but that is why if you really do want to learn how to use a cycle. You learn, no matter how hard it gets for you. It's something you need to WANT to do badly : p or am I wrong?

This is why I had been using a scooter instead of a motorcycle all this time. I want to start off slow and gradually climb up. (Besides I would rather drop my 275lb motorscooter to the concrete than a motorcycle of a similar weight that I would be using to commute etc, cuz I only paid 1300 for this scooter anyway)

I got used to the weight of the scooter already. Which was one of the factors as to why I could also not finish my safety course... the one bike they had low enough for me at the course was a Suzuki GZ 250 Marauder and that thing weighed a ton back then to me. So now that I can handle the weight of my scooter, I'm sure I can move onto the weight of a real bike. And finish learning what I put off.

Once I get good enough on a cheap motorcycle that I wont have to worry about possibly droping once or twice, Then I will consider riding one around to comute ad I wanted. But first things first! I will go finish my safety course!

There really was no point to this thread, except to just annouce myself, and nudge at my goals.

Ya it sounds like a ninja 250 is perfect for you or maybe even a 500. Good luck and like stated above watch out for those taillights.

Ball, sounds like your a pretty small person, am I right about that? that in itself may limit you to the types of bikes, but that still should not stop you if you love the feeling of being on two wheels. what hieght and weight are yu?

I'm 112 lbs
4'9" So yeah, I have been trying and researching bikes with low seating. Anything over 28.5" is too big and my feet wouldnt be able to touch the floor. Well at least not both of them. I had to get the seat trimmed for the scooter I ordered off the net because the seat was about 2-3 inches too much for me heh.

edit: Haha to seat height. : p Someday that bike will come along. Hopefully.

damn boy, how old are you?

anyways, my friend is alot heavyer but around the same height. he has a 02 GSXR 600 thats lowered. im 5'11'' and when i get on it, i can bend my knees a whole lot with both feet on the ground.

if all fails you can just lean the bike when you stop.

Not a probelm, you just a small handicap in as much as size really helps at slow speeds... after the bike is rolling size is less important. But you can not rule out your size completely. What type of riding do you see yourself doing? Cruisers usually have a lower seat height and are therefore a bit easier to handle for short folks. if your into sport riding, there are plenty of smaller 50-125 or maybe 250 bikes that can help you out. And just beacuse the bike is small displacemnt does not mean that it will not be fun in the curves, because the entire fun is maintaining corner speed.
peace

Yeah I am small : p and I'm used to it. At my workplace I constantly lift boxes that weigh at least 45 lbs each, for not less than 2o times a day. I know that's not much for a workout but I do learn to control my balance and lift properly. As far as lowering a bike is concerned, I've read up on lowering bikes and the good and bad..

basically the only good I read is that I can reach the floor. Whoohoo!

THe bad is that it limits my cornering speed and it raises the risk of damaging parts of the bike like the exhaust and engine case etc. But I wouldn't be doing any super agressive cornering (if at all) with the bike I would get.

So far the only kinds of bikes that would fit me without modification are cruiser bikes : p

I know it will cost me both ways to shorten any bike : ) but this is why I look into it before I do anything heh.

Oh yeah and I'm a girl.

edit: OH MY GOD check out this bike
