Default Y8 oil pump with A6 strainer, possible?

is it possibe to use the D16Y8 pump from a 96-98 Civic EX and use a D16A6 strainer from a 91 CRX Si with the stock non aluinum oil pan from the A6? I know some peeps say you need the Y8 pump and strainer if you swap on the Y8 oil pan but it's hard to beleve that honda would change the whole oil pump body just for a new pan. I need one because my new CRX project car spun a rod bearing because the pump blew. I want to use one because the 91 Si pump is $115 from honda and the Y8 is only $65 here are some pics to compair the two
