i got a d15 bottom with a d16y8 head with a d16z6 intake manifold....the problem is when we put the antifreeze it started to leak..from what it looked like the manifold and the head....anybody have this problem or know whats going on...Please help

 

Did it start to leak after you ran the car? if so it could be your head gasket leaking.

 

no...i never cranked the car up....i filled the radiator and it just started to leak behind the manifold....i dont know if its because the z6 and the y8 have different coolant passages or what...my friend thinks its the felpro gasket. all the gaskets are new

 

so it's leaking just from the intake matifold not from the headgasket or anything like that. As far as I know I don't that there are colant passages inbetween the head and intake matifold, at least not on d16z6 (I might be wrong though). Maybe y8 head is different. Also there are some colant lines over there too so you might want to check that out, we had to cap one of them off when we installed z6 in my friends cx.

And why aren't you using y8 mani it's better then z6.

 

well im just working with what i have...i dont want to sink alot of money in this car...ive checked the hoses and nothing...its leaking around the manifold...like under the vtec solen. i dont think its the gasket cause its new

 

did you leave the bleeder valve open? sounds like a loose hose or connection in the cooling system>
