lower control arm price with bushings?
i took my car into the shop today to put the rear stock suspension back on. the guy told me that my bushings are shot (rusted) and that i need to replace them. he said it is only $26 more to just order the whole lower control arm with the bushing already in and that in the long run it would be cheaper than the labor to put them in the lower control arm thats on the car now. the lower control arms with the bushing will be approximatly $86 for each side and he also said that i needed 3 new bolts per side at $7 a piece ($42 for bolts alone!). so im looking at $200 plus labor. does this sound right? it almost as much as i paid for the car.
sure, you can use newer bushings. but you dont NEED them if you dont want to spend the money on em. you can seriously do it yourself, but since you actually paid someone else to do your suspension, then maybe not. i think he's just looking for more work/money from you.
actually i have already tried and i broke a bolt on each side. i think that they are rusted in to the bushings. after the bolts broke i tried pounding them out with a hammer and punch and couldn't get them to move. i would like to do it myself,i gave it a try but i just can't get the bolts out. i guess im not worried about the price of labor as much as the price of the parts. do those prices sound right?
labor is always what costs you. just replace the bolts that youve broken. actually, its easier to remove the bolts, or in your case pound them out, when you jack up the suspension, the arms seem to align better with the trailing arm and can be knocked out without the friction keeping them in. no, i wouldnt pay $200+ for this job. yeah, honda bolts are expensive, but you dont have to pay for ALL new bolts either. you probably should just worry about fixing your broken bolts and thats it. itll be easier to remove the bolts with the WHOLE suspension removed if you still cant get em out while on the car.
instead of buying the whole rear lower control arm for each side for $168 (2 x $86) couldn't i just buy one of the polyurathane kits off of ebay for $20?
yeah but good luck doing it ur self
I tried and well ended up sending them out to a machine shop to get pressed out
they are in there really good
u can either try hammering them out (good luck, Ouch!)
or burning them with a torch but who has on of those at home
or C reply to my IM

to be honest i know someone who works at honda so if i decide to get the whole LCA i will probably get an OEM at a discounted price. i guess what im getting at is im looking for help as to whether i should get the entire LCA or if i should just buy the bushings off of ebay. any help would be appreciated
If you buy the bushings Im assuming they would need to be pressed in, costing you some more money in labor
Id probably spring the extra few bucks for the whole new lca with bushing already so you know itll last and the **** is brand new

i would like to have the honda part number please. can anyone help me. i think it is 52350-sh2-A00 but that is only for one side (assuming thats the correct part number). does anyone know if that is correct and what the part number is for the other side
This solution is very simple and very cheap...
Just go and buy stock LCA's at a junk yard for $35 each and cut the bolts on the old ones...take the old LCA's and use them for paper weights...remove the remaining pieces of bolts that are in the chassis...Install the new (used) LCA'sand your set to go.
If you have any questions PM me
