Avg. Oil Temp... i'm hitting 240F
I've got a '97 GSR, new engine as of last October.
SRI, Exhaust and header only. I installed oil press and temp gauges 2 weeks ago.
Oil Temp is what i'm worried about, during highway driving about 4300rpm, 83mph... i'm hitting about 240F.
around town i'm around 190f
is this normal temp?
I've got the sender installed into a sandwich plate that sits between the Oil filter and block.
Thanks!

Sounds about right. 240 is in the center of the gauge, correct?
While on the highway, your pistons are moving around 3.7-4.5K RPMs cruising. That's a lot of friction heat being absorbed. Around town, you're in lower RPMs where the oil will not get at hot.

240 is exactly the middle of 180-300. your oil temp is a little high but nothing to really worry about. i've been cruising around for years at 220-240 on the highway.
i was having the same questions....
i installed a oil temp and pressure gauge and my oil temp usually stays around 175-200....but i i get on it or i am punching it on the freeway it does get up to about 220-260....
so i guess its common...considering the revs that b series engines pump out...
