Suspension starting to feel loose. Time to change bushings?
My suspension is starting to feel a bit loose. I have 100K KM on the car. I have a little it of steering play that wasn't there before. Would replacing the suspension bushings fix this?
I searched but everyone seems to want to get aftermarket bushings. I'm fine with just getting the stock ones. Is it possible to get them without having to get control arms or do they always come as a set?

I believe there is a large large nut you can tq back to spec that gets loose over time and causes more steering play. It is on the steering shaft somewhere.
Something like a 32mm nut...there was a large thread about it over a year ago.

new shocks will do wonders
you have to remember that those f&#*$&g cold Montreal winters are very very hard on cars. you probably drive the bumpy streets at 60 km/h in -40C yes? well imagine how hard and thick the oil is inside the body of the shock at that temp. Imagine how hard the internals seals are - and how hard your tires are.....driving in these conditions has its cumulative effects over time - -> things wear out a lot more quickly.
your motor mounts might also be getting slack in addition to all the suspension bushings. so you might want to look outside the box instead of focussing only on the suspension bushings
i remember well my years in Winnipeg and how rotten winter was to the cars there.
thank goodness I live on the coast now - my Type R is lucky

check your shocks and bushings and see how worn they are. Any signs of cracks or leaks and you will definitely want to replace them. A bushing overhaul can do wonders for the feel of the car, but its also a lot of work.
