So someone is interested in building a motorsports park in Millville N.J.
Caught this while scanning the NASA forums for HC news and results:
http://www.thedailyjournal.com....html
It looks to be of the same concept and style as some other newer "Country Club" style tracks built recently IE; http://clubmotorsports.com & http://www.barbermotorsports.com/ which seem to be catching on and on and becoming All the rage recently. Or maybe thats just how I see it.
It is still in the planning stages and reports a potentially agressive opening schedule 2006. Plus it's also getting some bad response and press by locals against it who are reportedly the same people against the idea of a NASCAR track proposal in the past.
Here is a posted Email and a link to an unofficial vote for or against the track project being polled by the local Journal News paper:

We are trying to build a speedway here in South Jersey. Things were going real well until some "do gooders" loaded up the polls last night. I figure if they can dirty up this vote against a speedway maybe I can help the yes vote! Please take a few minutes and go to the web site and vote YES for our speedway!
PLEASE GO TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOME PAGE IN THE VERTICAL COLUMN AND VOTE YES FOR THE PROJECT.

YOU CAN ASK THEM TO LOOK AT THE PROJECT WEBSITE NJMOTORSPORTSPARK.COM TO LEARN ABOUT THE PROJECT. IT IS A 70% OPEN SPACE PROJECT THAT WILL CREATE 1500 JOBS IN A COMMUNITY THAT IS STARVING FOR EMPLOYMENT AS A RESULT OF THE GLASS INDUSTRY LEAVING US. IT IS LOCATED ON THE SAME PROPERTY AS OUR AIRPORT. IT ALSO INCLUDES A 4 YEAR COLLEGE MOTORSPORTS ACADEMY PREPARATORY BOARDING SCHOOL.

Opinions? Comments?
I can totally understand and respect a local communities opinion. I also know the history of Limerock and how they dealt with the local concerns and issues, as per noise restrictions and limited racing days (Never on Sunday).
Curious to see what some of you will say and if you'd take the time to vote on this unofficial poll? I didn't because it's Not my community.

Last week I was feeding over 3,000 collective mouths.
Thanks for catching me up though. Looks like the other post didn't have a such a big response either.
Oh well thanks for letting me know regardless.

they seem very ambitous, if they build it as planned, it will be one of the best facilities on the east coast
The poll is over/gone
http://www.thedailyjournal.com/
The last time I looked it was about 60/40 in favor of the track... I'm not sure exactly how much weight this poll carries, but just the same, thanks to everyone who cast a vote.
I think the lack of perceived interest is because of two things:
1. there was a proposal that was shot down earlier so naturally people will believe this too will be shot down.
2. We've been waiting for a few other tracks to be built each of them have been delayed.
For me the interest comes from knowing someone on the green flag committee, and also knowing that the folks who are heading up the project have successfully built another track... anyone heard of VIR?... yeah same dudes.
They also have the backing of the local and state officials... The part I'm not sure about is they still have to get the Delaware Port Authority and the FAAs approval. Knowing how government works, it should be a matter of postering, and hitting all the key topics, and of course money. Apparently Harvey Siegel has deep enough pockets to take care of the money matters (as do his partners), and his resume has one of the best tracks on the East on it.
I agree WHEN this track is built it will be better then VIR.

This may work. Let's keep our fingers crossed. A real track only an hour or so away. Reserved giddyness.
