Default b00st or S2k?

I am in a bit of a dilema and i thought i would seek out some guidance from my fellow H-T members.

By the end of the summer I will have saved about $3.0-3.5k. My 2001 GSR will have about 28-29k miles on it. My question is should I:

A) Peice together a very quality custom turbo kit (mostly full-race stuff) install it myself and get it properly tuned.

OR

B) Sell my car for about $12k or so and I have about $9k or so left on my loan, leaving me with an extra 3k plus the 3k i made from the summer and using that as a down payment for an S2k. Not sure wut year yet though gotta check the prices again

Before any one makes any comments, I have to let you know that I have been want to turbo my car since the day i got it, until my best friend pointing something that i never really cared to think about before. He says, "It's your money and you can do what you want with it but just remember, it is still going to be an integra." Meaning turboing your car is not gonna benifit you in any way (a.k.a, resale, looks, girls, ect..) except making your slightly or much faster depending on my setup and boost application. Theft is another issue here.. Please feel free to make any suggestions/ comments. Thanks.

i have toyed with this area multiple times, with selling my 02 pathfinder and getting an s2k or a g35.... Since i am in the finance field I will drop in my $.02
Few Questions/Comments:

1. Can you afford it? ie payments and insurance. Sure you can put a 6k down, but finance 24k. How old are you and do you have schooling plans? Rent, want to buy a home?

2. You know you are going to mod it, so be realistic... What other money could you find to mod this w/o streaching your pocket book.

3. Car don't get girls... Sorry, only in the movies.

In closing... this is a serious purchase... and technically you have lost money on your inital purchase (integra) why sell at a loss so early. Have fun with it, that way down the road you will be able to appreaciate all the cars you have.

Those are excellent points. I was gonna bring up the insurance one also. This may be something else to consider......DO YOU FIT IN THE CAR ?? Sounds stupid but when I sat in one at the dealership, the steering wheel hit my nether reagions (wheel has no tilt), and the door slammed my legs between itself and the center counsel. I couldn't so much as even lift my legs to push the clutch in. I live in CT so the rear wheel drive factored in with the light body weight make for a hell of a ride in the winter time, especially as a daily driver. Just some food for thought......then again with some less food I might fit in the S2K.........

some very valid points there Yes i am currently in college and you don't think i could get an s2k for less than 24k? Cars do make good impressions on girls though, they don't say anything but deep down inside they LOVE nice looking cars

The only girl that actually liked my car, was when I took her for a ride in it, she said "It makes cool splash noises" Aka the BOV. But, I think that's true, girls do like cars deep down inside. I think if you have a turbo teg you can have more fun with cute girlies on the highway then in an s2k. LOL. Seriously, I love the s2k's, but I wouldn't want to pay that much (car cost and insurance) for a car with 200whp and no torque. Unless your going to boost the s2k, get a used 350z or something along those lines.

Think about payments and insurance!

I would personally be debt free when you got the chance. Being in Debt sucks! -=P Save that few extra hundred dollars and put it into your teg to make it even faster!

Integra Turbocharged + no payments! Cheaper Insurance!
Compared to:
S2k Stock + $9k+ of payments! Higher insurance then the Teg!

I would love to have extra cash to spend every month, then torwards bill.

Thats my opinion at least.

All very valid points here I think I am starting to lean towards the Turbo teg again... Does the S2k really have that high of an insurance?? My mother and I pay around $5000 for full coverage on a 2001 lexus es300 and my GSR i dont think insurance can get any higher than that.

i would think that insurance for an s2k is probably around what it is for you gsr...if you can afford it and like others said fit in it then an s2k is a definite upgrade from a teg...even a turbo one imo.

You, still being under 25/26 (whatever the insurance age is where the premiums lower), are probably still going to pay out the **** on an S2K. I'm 18/Male and full coverage I pay 4k by myself. Anyway, assuming you do have the money to buy and S2k and not have a problem, is it practical? Integras are trucks in disguise. Drop the rear seats and open the hatch and you can fit near anything in the hatch. S2k's have issues fitting a golf club set in the trunk. Its just not practical. You lose your rear seats (which never were that important) but you also lose space to accomodate small things like backpacks and misc. you could throw in the back. Is the practicality you're sacrificing for a slightly sexier car worth it? I would say boost the integra or better finish paying it off and save for your next car. But whatever you do, just remember "will I enjoy this car 1 year from now?".

Keep your Integra the way it is and just drive it..

A friend of mine put turbo on his Integra. A month later someone stole it.

If it was from a type-r to a s2k I'd be hesitant. However a gsr to an s2k is a big jump. I'd do it with no question. However it is up to you whether or not you think you can (or willing) to afford it.

I'd go for the boost without a doubt...i really am not into s2k's all that much. If i were to get a new car, it would be another Teg/RSX.

Boost the Teg...

Only rich boys with their rich mommies at your age can afford the s2k. Face it, you're a poor college guy, like me .

And just to keep it real, $3500 wont be enough for a GOOD quality full-race setup. I know, I'm in the same spot, may not be full race parts but its quality parts...and its more than $3500.

Wouldn't you like to eat up s2000s? Girl in your car, s2000 next to you (assuming its not also Turbo =P), on the freeway at around 70mph... drop to 4th, "ppPPpPfFffSsSStTtt," and you'll see the s2k in your rear view mirror. The girl would be holding on for life on your nuts.

That is sooooo true.... The only way I would be purchasing an s2k is if I were to get help from my mom. I guess I am just going to stick with my teg and the original plan of b00sting it. I dont think an s2k would be very practical for me atleast not at this age....

BTW a fullrace kit with A/C costs $3999, so yes i will be able to afford it. I will be doing the installation myself

there's nothing wrong with something like this...

although thats not the AC kit its pretty much similiar.

AFTER you dish the $3999 for the kit think whats next. your looking at "if done the right way" injectors, ecu, exhaust, tuning/ dyno time, etc. but trust me its well worth it.
