need help...ITR Mani swap...now Idle surge...
i searched and did everything that was suggested...
I swapped an ITR intake manifold and a hondata manifold gasket onto my poor man's type R (c5 bottom end and Si head) I used ITR injectors (later found out they are the same size)
car starts and seems to run fine...give it gas and it starts to surge from 1,000-1,900 rpm unplug the IACV and it runs and idles perfectly but with a check engine light... WHAT THE HECK is teh problem? I fabricated a blockoff plate for that thing on the #3 runner right under where the throttle cable is connected to the manifold...that isn't leaking...i dont't know what else to do... I have to get my hondata installed tomorrow and I want this thing in good shape before it goes into dyno tuning...anyone have any suggestions?

thermo valve below the inlet of the throttle body. take off the two small screws and screw in the plastic ring till it bottoms out, that might fix it, its probalby because you blocked off the coolant lines to the throttle body (if im wrong please correct me)
yeah thats probaly why...then i reconnected them... I looked at those pictures but I cant find what the hell they are talking about...i dont see anything right under the trhottle body...so i wrote that off to be for first gen b16's

I had a similar problem with my 99 Si and my Skunk 2 intake manifold last summer (minus the check engine light). I tried troubleshooting it for three weeks and could not figure it out as it was extremely intermitant. Finally, with much regret (and my wife telling me to), I took it to the Honda dealer. Come to find out I had done something about retarded-a few weeks earlier I had gotten into a minor fender bender with some one who rear ended me into another car. I had gotten the car fixed, but the shop forgot to reinstall the front strut tower brace. I just took it and installed it myself thinking that I could at least do this. Long story even longer, I installed the thing backwards and the brace was basically sitting across the MAP sensor on the top of the throttle body (I think that's what it is-excuse my extremely finite knowledge as I learn about all of this as I do all of the stuff to my car). Over time the bar was beating the crap out of the sensor and causing all kinds of issues-crappy idle and almost stalling at stops, surges, etc. I had replaced everything from the sparkplugs to my ignition coil. I didn't feel too bad though-it took the Honda mechanics 2 whole days to discover what was wrong. Anyway, I don't know if that helped much, but it just seems that when ever something dorks up on my car its usually something that I would least expect and is glaringly obvious at the same time (and is also because of my inexperienced handywork). Good luck in finding your solution if that does not help and sorry if it didn't.
still fluctuating...then after a bit the code 14 comes on and it stutters like its hitting fuel cut at around 1800 rpm

Maybe the sensor is damaged. Have you tried replacing it? What about the ECU? Are you running the stock Si ECU? If so, that could be your problem as you are running fuel maps for a 1.6 and you are now a 1.8. I don't know if that could be it, but it was something my friend had to consider when doing his GSR hatch. If you are running the correct ECU, have you tried reseting it? Just some things I can think of with my little experience. I would definitely look into getting a Helms manual and troubleshoot it with that. If all else fails, you might have to take the car in and get it looked at. Good luck, bro.
