Default Unique swap situation, not your everyday deal...ideas?

Here's what I've got:

96 cx hatch, bone stock
95 b18b longblock (no manifolds or injectors)
96 b18c1 tranny
p28 ecu read for chipping

The b series stuff came from my last civic when it was wrecked. I'm thinking I'll be doing an lsvtec. Here's the deal .... I'm getting sick of the crappy d16y7 motor. I was thinking of picking up one of these b16a1 longblocks that are so dirt cheap.

I figure if I can do it cheaply, I will run the b16 for now while I'm building the ls bottom end. Since I've already got the mounts, axles, ecu, what do I need to drop the b16 in and get it running? Is the alternator seriously different? I know on my LS dizzy I already had to solder on the plug from the old DX when I originally swapped into that car, is it the same type of thing or do I HAVE to buy an obd1 vtec dizzy?

Any other issues? Since I'd only have injectors from the b16a1 and the d16y7, would I need others to run the b16?

(FYI I just read other threads for over an hour on this subject, but my situation is a little different since I have so many parts already )

Hey, thanks a lot for your helpful input you stupid newb ****. If they've been answered so many times then you should know the answer, which you obviously don't.

It sounds like youre on the right track..build the LS bottom end while driving around on the b16a...If youre car is obd1 and the b16a is non obd...you can still use it...you just have to swap the injectors to some obd1 injectors and swap out the obd0 distributor plugs to obd1 plugs..you also have to swap the driver's side engine bracket to an obd1 b series bracket.

Maybe you should read the last line of my original post. HT has really gone down hill since all the kids like you have shown up. Again, thanks for being so helpful. Since you're such an expert, why don't you explain the internal differences of an OBD0 and OBD1 dist to me?

Thanks JDMotive....that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure. Hope I didn't waste too much of your time

hatchbackcomeback, i would help u out.. but i dont really know that much bout obd0 except for the fact that its not obd1. and it has less codes than obd 1...
as for the dizzys... i fukin hate dizzys... they have got to be the biggest pain in my *** that i've ever had to deal with...
but yeah like jdmotive said.. i would prolly just convert the whole thing to all obd1 **** and start hookin it up... ehehhehe

but on another note...

Hehe...thanks...I think what I'm going to do is go for the obd0 b16, buy a new dizzy for obd0 from Distributor King and use my d16y7 injectors until it's turbo time again. I'll just slap the car on the dyno and tune it for the time being. Anybody happen to know what CC the injectors are on the different motors?

As a side note...I'm looking to buy a new domain. I've got a good idea for setting up an SQL database with Honda info, such as tranny gearing, engines, etc. I thought it'd be cool to have something like that to let us easily cross reference cars, motors, etc.
