poor mans swap?
alright well i pulled my b16a1 from my 1991 honda civic si. i recently bought a 96 honda civic dx. so im selling my y1 lsd tranny for 650 with my clutch to someone, and picking up a hydro b16 tranny. since the motor is obd0 would i just need to buy an obd2 distributor, injectors, and ecu to make this work in my 96 hatch? also i was thinking of just getting a ls block, and using parts off the b16 is that a good idea? also one more questions. are there any advantages of going down from obd2 to obd1 since im already getting a new distributor, ecu, injectors would it be better to go down to obd1?

wow you have a LOT of questions...
Your best bet is to convert your 96 hatch "down" to OBD1 and also convert the 1st gen B16 motor "up" to OBD1
Yes of course, even better if you use a hydro B16 tranny with an LS or CRV motor... there arent many parts swappable from B16 to LS with major benefits, other than making an LS/VTEC or CRVTECmotor.
Yes you WANT OBD1 at least, OBD2 is a bitch to tune and does not respond well to a lot of mods, in comparison to OBD1 of course.
Sounds like you may want to look into a LS swap and then adding your B16 head for now. Make this swap OBD1 so you can tune it better and make the most of your future mods.
goodies to think about... CRV block, B16 or ITR tranny, LSD, Light flywheel, etc....
