b20 or zc??
Im tryinbg to decide weather or not to put my zc or b20 in my 91 dx crx, i went for a ride in my firends zc,diferentf cams, high flow cat,2.5 exhaust, hes got big system and 17'S, And it wasnt very fast, i beat it in my accord, 91 lx intake and exhaust, beat him 4 times by more than 3 car lenghts,
so im thinking about putting a b20, but what mounts, tranny ect would i need, and is there i web site with info on the swap
thanks,

The sohc zc or dohc? I dont know much about the B20 other than it comes out of a crv and it has more torque than a DOHC ZC, but I wouldnt buy that one. Go dohc zc. You can get one on hmotors for 525..... Or you could just spend a couple hundred extra and get the B18B.

do you have an Si. if you do id just turbo your motor and be done. a B20 swap done right is gonna be over 2500$.
you can buy a cheap turbo kit for 1100$. spend a bit more and build you motor. Then you can crank the boost and be fast for real.
i wouldnt bother with a b20 unless you have a bunch of money and are going to turbo that as well. So many guys spend over 2k for a swap and barely get out of the 14s. An A6 running 7psi on a stock block will do better and lots cheaper.
just saw you have a DX. ok do a MPFI and put in a A6, 100$ motor.

I would deff go with a B20. Having owned 2 cars with a ZC and a B20B/VTEC, the B20 is well worth the cost. There is no replacement for displacement and in this case it truly applies. The cost of a ZC is nothing when you consider the things that go into a B series swap. Go check out HASport.com for swap info...
i thought he said b20 not b20 vtec. If you go with a bseries you will have to buy mounts and figure how your going to wire it. If you go with a zc it will bolt right in and be cheaper and sorta quick. I say go with simplicity unless your trying to make this thing hella fast.

Depending on what ZC your friend has and how he treats it..it doesn't sound to me like it's right good. I have my zc dohc on it's way and 1400 dollars worth of aftermarket parts i'm about to buy...I'm looking at 200 some hp out of the motor before it even goes in the car.
It all depends on how much you want to spend and what your own opinions are.

I would have to agree but I'll wait for the parts list. If you could have 200HP for $1400 on a ZC then why would people do B swaps?

DEFINITELY B20!
Even a simple, basic, relatively inexpensive non-VTEC B20 is a GREAT setup. Way better than EITHER the ZC OR the LS. Think about it. You will basically get B16A power with more torque than an LS could ever dream of. The ZC? It will NEVER, NEVER, EVER make the kind of torque the B20 makes. Now alot of people call the ZC a 'bang for the buck' swap. But the truth is that the B20 will give you WAY more bang for the buck than the ZC. Yes, it costs more. But you also get ALOT more for the money.

you will need a new intake with a B20, you need custom mounts , you need a lot of little things. It has torque but makes lousy HP numbers with out a B16 Vtec head put on it, and then you are talking well over $2,000 before you are done.
Hell I have WAY more into my B16 swap than I am happy about.
I do have M20 Rocket motorsport cams, and springs, and Cam gears, Skunk 2 intake, 65mm TB, 4-1 JDM header, CAI . Pretty fast.... but cost way too much.
You can do a lot with a ZC, have a motor and tranny that weighs way less than a B swap and with some warming up have a quite respectible car. My last motor was a warmed over DOHC ZC.
With a ZC do a Si-ZC hybrid tranny............
