is my radiator working or not?

Hey I have a 1999 civic si, my coolant tank has not much fluid in it but my resivour is full.. i turned my car on and the coolant tank doesn't get any more full or anything like im pretty sure its supposed to so idk, i need help sorry :\ thx

Dont forget that your coolant circulates throughout the engine. So one time you look at it it might be half and then another time itll be full. So maybe thats whats going on.

radiator systems work with pressure.
there is really no way for a radiator to work or not work. the sole purpose of a radiator is to cool the coolant. the only thing that cant 'work' is the radiator not cool correctly... due to leaks, lack of pressure. or clogged radiator, fluid cant flow properly and get cooled.
to check if its clogged feel the top hose, then the bottom hose, both should be hot. is the only reason you think its not working becuase of your overflow bucket?

by coolant tank do you mean radiator? and if so how did you check how much fluid in the radiator? it should be filled ot the top. when are you checking? more details please.

thats probably because its right under your exhaust.
