94 LS into a 00 SI
Okay, nobody jump me on this one, I know.
Situation is a friend of mine is looking to buy a build B18B, but it came out of a 94. We want to convert it to an OBDII (preferrably B, as his car is an 00 SI) so it will still be legal (nobody around here will know that it's not the original motor.) I've explained it's a bad idea, but what would sensors would need to be added to make it work like an OBDII motor?
I know he's going to need the secondary 02 sensor among other things, but a good list would be helpful, or a link to a thread telling me.
Thanks guys.

the secondary O2 sensor, and crank position sensor. The IAT sensor can be either in the intake arm or in the mani. There isn't a lot of things that you need to change, swap harnesses and whatnot. Also if you dont live in cali there is really no problem w/ swapping older motors into newer cars, i have put a few OBD0 motors in OBD1 cars, and one OBD0 into an OBDII car
Well here in NC they have implemented the OBDII testing where they plug into the OBDII port for state inspection. He WILL not pass with an OBDI setup in his car.

Because a friend of ours is trying to sell a very built 94 B18B. Does anybody even read?

I do.
You said 'he is looking to buy a b18b, out of a 94' or some extent.
What I thought that meant, was he is looking for a '94 b18b. (Which doesnt make sence, thats why I asked)
You should go more in depth with your words before you call the A-Team on me.

ricey why not just convert the harness over to a OBD I harnesses are cheap and we have already done it 2 times to OBD-IIa cars already. better off if ur buddy is going to do a very built ls block with a b16 head??? is that what he is trying to do? OBD II ecus suck in terms of tuning anyways

Correct. This car still has to pass state inspection, so I need to convert the motor to an OBDII setup.

all you need to do is add the CFK/CKF sensor to the crank.
cut your IAT wires and change the plug style to the round one from intake tube to intake manifold or the other way pending on what your doing.
get 96+ LS dizzy
get 00-01 teg ECU. make sure you get the IMM removed so the car will start.

Isn't it illegal to put an engine from an older car into a newer car? Maybe it changes from state to state, but i've heard that if you transplant an engine, it has to be of the same year as your car (in this case, an '00 engine into an '00 car) or newer ('01+ engine into '00 car)

YEP.... But i've had a couple of older motors get Bar'ed in new cars. it just depends on the Ref.
92 LS in 95 EG
94 B18C jdm 00 EK (told them it was a 00 Type R, used B16 head with ITR intake manifold, added crank sensor for OBD2)

It's technically illegal here, but there won't be a single person other than myself in the entire county that will really know. Thanks for the advice guys.
