those who have taken off their ITR wing read
Alright well i have a jdm type r rear hatch (it comes with no windshield wiper holes and ITR wing) and I need to take off the wing so i can get it repainted.
There are 4 screws that are visible on each side of the wing, 2 on each. I unscrewed all 4 screws and i am not able to move or budge this wing off of the hatch. Is there any other screws ? or maybe its the paint that is making it stick so much.. i dont know what im supposed to do... put more force or something? im scared that i would damage the wing/hatch
plz help , anyone who has uninstalled their wing thanks

There is double-sided foam tape that holds and seals the wing. Many people use fishing line to "saw" through the tape. You may also be able to simply pry it off by using enough force, but as you said, be careful not to dent or damage the hatch.

That should work too, as long as it's strong enough.

That could potentially damage something.
I used the dental floss which works fine and then a strong industrial adhesive remover called "Afta".
The only thing other than being careful during the process to remember is, after you use any type of strong adhesive remover, you should clean the surface then maybe clay it, polish and then wax it a few times to protect the finish.
When you reinstall the wing be careful not to torque the bolts on too tight or the mounting holes can get bent and deformed.

k so i have 3 ways of doing this, the hatch is going to be painted as well but i wanted to take the wing off my self.
1 - get a heat gun or mom's blow drier to soften the adhesive then use a stronger twine to pry it off completely
2 - get a fishing line and do it . or maybe if its strong enuf, floss
3 - streak knife( doesnt sound safe to me rofl )
