Default does little oil equal messed up motor?

i have an oil leak coming from my cam seal, and a little from the block. i have a new head gasket but havnt had a chance to put it on yet... i havnt drove the car in awhile and today it just cut out on me, i tried starting it about three times while i was at the gas station and nothing... i checked the oil and i was really low, so i put another qt and a 1/2 in, and it just started right up... my question is, do you think i messed anything up while driving on low oil for about 2 1/2 miles? lucky i was low on gas, and it cut off at the gas station. everything seems fine now but my head keeps playing games with me. thanks in advance.

i wouldn't think so, but drop the oil pan and check for shavings if want. ever since i messed up my first ls motor due to low oil, i check my oil every time before i take my civic out for a drive. my civic is not a daily driver, but when i do drive it, i always check the oil before i do.

well you mentioned that u ran out of fuel which means that your fuel line had no fuel. and it takes a minute to get to the motor

half a quart shouldn't of messed up your engine for those couple miles like you said... half below the upper mark or half below the bottom one? If you was under the bottom one you would've been 1-1/2 quarts low and then I would worry. As long as it's on the upper mark or anywhere between the two marks it's fine. but it's good that you checked it.

it was kinda at the lower line but ive been driving it since then and everything seems to be working fine... that really scared the crap out of me

it's good that you caught it, but I wouldn't worry too much if it was at the bottom line. I know mine when I change it I always put it to the upper line and sometimes when I check it it's half way in between then I'll check it again later and it's full, I don't know if it's lingering in the head somewhere or what.
