Accord TYPE-S, is it possible?
Hey people, im have to ask everybody this question and im getting a lot of second opinions but i needed the truth so i came to honda-tech. My goal is a 95 Accord coupe, with an JDM h22a TYPE-S motor. The first question is: Will it fit? Im having doubts. My motto is, if your going to do it once, do it right. So im not wasting any money. Im going for maximum HP and TQ. If anybody knows anything about this motor, please reply. I am also going for forced induction, most proboly turbo. Anybody know where i can find a right turbo?
haha yes it will fit! its kinda pricey though. if youve got the dough, do it though. has been done before. and if you turbo it you betta know what your doing man! all im saying is that. i would buy a used kit on ebay, turn around and sell the manifold back on ebay, and get a manifold custom built for your h series bad boy.
um......do u have the engine code for an H22 Type-S motor??....or is that the same thing as a Prelude SH???...im not framiliar with h22 Type S (i thought "type S" was a new trim level @ honda, like, whinin the past 2/3 years....)
h22's will fit into an accord engine bay, simple as that.....its a high compression motor, so ur gonna wanna lower the compression before you turbo......but SC's are avaialbe as well

Forget the Type-S, especially if your goal is forced induction. You'll save money with the regular h22. H22's don't respond too hot to boost so you might think about rebuilding it, and it wouldn't be nearly as easy to rebuild a Type-S motor (parts availability). Plus if you're going forced induction what's the 20 extra ponies of the S going to do for you? You won't miss it. But when you're in the middle of rebuilding the engine you'll wish you had that extra grand instead of 20 horses.

I wanna thank everybody for their feedback. Im deff going with the JDM type-s h22a. My plan is to put a couple thousand miles on it, get some money and rebuild the motor, prolly forged internals to lower the compression, then turbo it. I've also heard rumors the VTEC and turbo dont go good, true or not?
thats all a wives tail....PLENTY of stock turbo cars utilize a variable valving technology......thought honda was one of the first to utilize the 3 lobed cam, its not like no one else has it.....
the type-s motor isn't much different from the h22a..the 20hp comes from higher compression, cams, airbox and exhaust..i believe the block and head are practically identical except for the parts used in them (correct me if i'm wrong)..all these things will be getting replaced with lower compression pistions, different cam settings, exhaust, intake, blahbalbh.. anyways so that 20hp you get from the type-s due to more aggressive n/a settings will be downgraded to lower compression to handle boost anyways...so your left with basically a built h22a again
to sum up: no need to spend money on the type-s motor unless you have the money or you wanna say "i have a JDM type-s motor > H22a's"

the type-s motor is worth almost as much as the car. if you got that kinda cash for a swap, why not sell your car and buy something new or like new that is already fast.
You are either a troll, or have never put a wrench on a car.
Please do ALOT of research before doing anything on your car.
No offense, but you are very, very clueless. Buying a Type S motor makes no sense if you are just going to tear it apart to throw in forged internals and turbo it. It is an NA spirit motor, buy a regular H22a.
The fact that you dont know an h22a bolts into an accord using, stock, honda engine mounts, is scary enough. Please dont throw your money away.
