1995 Honda Civic EX Won't Start
Hi everyone. I've been going through a lot of forums and the people here seem to be the most knowledgeable and friendly. A little about me now:
I'm sort of a computer expert and I suddenly know how everyone else in the world feels when their computer breaks. Wow.
About my car:
My problem sounds essentially just like the problem the fellow is having here:
http://www.car-forums.com/talk...=2489
except that mine is a '95 and automatic (I'm a wuss, I know). The difference is that my car was working a couple of hours ago. Now it behaves the same way it does when I am low on gas and exactly as the gentleman described at the link above (which may be an indication of a different problem? the manual indicates that the car holds 11.5 gallons of gas, but no matter how low I've managed to get the tank, I've never managed to put more than 9 gallons in when I refuel. Something tells me there's something whonky with my fuel guage and/or tank?)
Also, when I hold the ignition on for a bit, and it continues to fail to engage, there is a light smell of gas outside of the car, but no leaks anywhere. I do not know ANYTHING about cars, unfortunately, so if someone has technical advice, could they, or someone else perhaps also direct me to a place that would teach me how to decode/interpret what I'm reading and what to do with it?
Will trade computer work or equipment for car repair/knowledge. <grin> Thanks so much for any help that you all are able to offer.

im assuming its cranking.
smells like your getting fuel.
see if your getting spark.
check distributor /wires / rotor.
check those and come back. even tho u smell fuel it might not be adequate.

Get your starter checked out,
and i would definetly do a complete tune up if it hasnt been done in a while.
Air filter
Spark Plugs
Wires
Fuel Filter
Distributor Cap & Rotor
Oh yea and check for any loose connections near the starter and inspect the timing belt
Remember you car has reserve gasoline so even if its on Empty you still have backup in the tank
