need help with removing old struts ........please getting desperate
Hello................I am trying to install new springs and struts on my 94 integra.. I have the car on jacks. I got as far as taking all the bolts and nuts off the drivers side front strut, but I can't seem to budge the flange bolt and self locking nut that holds that fork on?? I have tried just about everything I can think of. I tried a little oil on the bolt and nut to loosen it up (no go). I tried the biggest ratchet I have hoping that the increased leverage would help (no go). The car is in my garage and my neighbor across the street has an air compressor with an air ratchet? But I really don't want to move my car all the over there..........
Is there anything I am missing? some trick not in the helms manual that I am looking in? I need some advise desperately.....please

just use a rachet and put a pipe on the end of the ratchet to get more leverage on it... you can also try some wd-40 and smack the bolt with a hammer a few times... also try to tighten the bolt a little bit then try to loosen it... sometimes that helps
if it has never been removed before, it could be a bitch... if you're having problems with the front, stop, and bring it to a shop. the front is a walk in the park. an air ratchet won't help. an impact will help. go to the store and get a set of 1/2" drive sockets and a super-excaliber 1/2" drive breaker bar to break all your bolts loose and then use a ratchet. ratchets break when you use them to break bolts and nuts loose.
first if your neighbor has a compressor, most compressors ive seen have wheels and a lil handle so you can bring it to your house. and youll need a gun, not a ratchet.
use a ratchet, 1/2 and use a pipe on the end and just push, itll end up budging. penetrating oil is your friend, and you can also try using a can of map gas.

i got the fronts off pretty easy just using a ratchet and breaker bar, but the back bolts in the rear lca is frozen so i have been riding around with just front shocks and coilovers since january. Already have new bolts to put in, just have to get new bushings and i should have it fixed by next week

Thanks for all the help guys........ finally got those bolts off the front. (used a bigger breaker bar)
So now the front is done, but I quite for the day and Thought I had put all the tools away. I go out today to do the rear struts and now I can't find that darn socket key they give you with after market wheels!!!?!?!?!?! I have been looking for an hour now.
So now the problem is does anyone know where I can get a replacement in a hurry (like same day kinda thing)? or any thing else I can do?
This just is not my weekend for working on my car apparently!

keep looking its got to be around somewhere. if its a dealer key you can get it from the dealer, but not on sunday. just look your going to end up finding it. if it ends up not being found your going to have to remove the wheellocks manually.
Yeah I am going to take a little break, then go back and continue to look for the stupid thing......
How would I remove them manually?
By the way thanks for your help.
