Annoying squeaks from rear of car (hatch)
Just open up the hatch and literally pound every body panel, trimming, etc you see until you hear squeaks. It's usually from metal to metal contact.
Damn those pillar bars really do help. I just oiled and greased my trunk latch and the ball joints where the trunk struts/shocks attach and my squeeks went away. But yeah it is the panneling too sometimes.
if you find that the squeak comes from plastic on plastic or plastic on metal contact, go to a parts store and buy some foam tape (usually used in pickup trucks with bed liners, to protect the metal from becoming scratched and rusting).
it only needs to be 1/2 or even 1/4 inch of foam on the tape, and you can stick that wherever there is contact, should stop most of it.
for metal on metal contact, good thick lubricants in sprays (NOT WD-40) are good, as well as bearing or chassis lube, which is a thick grease. anything that isn't likely to run off or dry up.
like others said, it's not ONE thing...
dont' forget to check the plastic trim pieces that surround the big window in the hatch... i remember i had a NASTY noise coming from there one time, because 2 pieces weren't put back together properly.
hope this helps!

yeah I had an annoying squeak coming from my hatch area for a week, and I assumed I didn't clip in my cargo cover correctly....but upon closer inspection.....I had forgot to pop in a clip last time I took off my side panel, so I made sure all my fragile little clips were inline with their holes, and pushed them back in........squeak gone.
But don't go gorilla on your plastic panels and just start pounding them into place cause you will break the clips and then you will have to live with that squeaking........that is of course till you find another way to stop it
