Misfire in low RPM under load JDM B16a?
Hi there,
I have a JDM B16a in my EG9.
The car has developed a misfire under load at low rpm. Let me explain:
When in say 3rd gear and the revs are about 2000rpm if I put my foot down say 25% throttle the car would splutter until the revs climb to about 2500rpm then it would rev without missing all the way to redline. Now the misfire doesn't happen when i just rev the car in neutral (no load).
Do you guys have any suggestions? And also I need a list of all the things I need to check and how to check them.
It's frustrating not being able to drive my car to its potential. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a problem like that when I had a mini me in my sol. I spent 5 hours trouble shooting it and it turned out to be that my msd coil had worn a hole in the bottom of itself while rubbing on the tranny mount. I'd check your coil and make sure it's good. just my $.02
Well i have my suspicions on it being something to do with the ignition.
So what would I check?
Leads? How do I test these? Can you do it with a voltmeter?
I'll check the sparkplugs for the condition.
How about distributor cap? Do I just unscrew the 3 screws? Are these expensive to replace? How about the rotor?
Could this be caused by fueling too? Like dirty injectors or clogged fuel filter? Remember this only happens in low rpm under load.
Previous owner got the head ported and polished. Could a crap job lead to the car running like this?
Also my car is running a VAFC. Fuel correction is about -9% at idle and about -4.5% normal driving under light throttle. Could this be the reason? All settings were done by the previous owner.
C'Mon you Honda-Tech Gurus. Suggestions would be much appreciated!

Yeah i'll try setting it back to 0%.
Haven't had time to check for codes yet. Stupid exams.
Could this also maybe be caused by a broken coil or ignitor?

tianporn - did you fix it? if not, are you throwing any of P0300-P0304? i have the same problem and just curious whether you found the problem. i'm currently thinking coil, although it passed the "tests" outlined in the Helms.
Yeah man problem is fixed. Replaced the lspark wires with NGK blues and misfiring and idle surging problem was gone. It wasn't throwing any codes.
