Honest opinion on Speed Chips
There are a lot of these speed chips for sale on eBay and in the shops. They're cheap too. But do they really do anything or are they just a potential to #$@ up my car?
Is there a good mod chip out there for my '93 Integra RS?

I will be nice to you.....see my title.
Those chips will do little or nothing to your car. In some cases, it might make your car even slower.
Unfortunately for us, our cars really don't really respond to chips as well as some other cars do (i.e: turboed/supercharged cars from the factory, like many German cars). Those chips simply up the boost a few psi and you get an amazing amount of horsepower added.
For us, we have to depend solely on other forms of modifications and I'm sure you're already aware of. If you are still interested in a chip, make sure your car is either 1) a pretty high revving N/A car or 1) a pretty high boosting turbo car.
There might be some arguments to this, and I agree with most. If you get a chip (NOT one of those EBAY chips), you might be able to extract some power with some tuning. Look for an aftermarket ECU or a piggyback ECU that has fuel management, and timing tables (for boost as well). That way, you can use them in the future with your future mods.
Keep in mind, those that I mentioned are quite pricey, as is anything you buy to get power from a Honda. How much are those Ebay chips? Probably like $100, right? The good engine management systems are usually close to/over $1000.
EDIT: I forgot to ask you....what mods do you have on your car already? If you don't have much really.....look into something else besides a chip right now.

I agree with basically everything you wrote, with the exception of the above. There are a number of nice tuning options for well under $1000. A nice setup can be had for roughly $200-$300 plus the cost of dyno tuning.

I will definately follow your advice. I figured that they had to be junk. I wouldn't put a $10 overclocker in my PC, why would I put one in my car?
I'll look at the higher quality ones you mention but I'll also put it off for a while. I just picked up a '93 Integra RS. My last hobby car was an '88 CRX SI that was as modified as I could get it - that was 14 years ago. So after building a family I now want to start messin' around, hence the '93 Integra.
It's stock, so I'm starting from scratch. I'm looking for a good cold air intake right now. Nothing is like it was 14 years ago.

ya for your integra its basically pointless
now ive seen cars like S4's and GTi's and if u had one of those id say do it.... those cars react soooo good to chips and some of those gains are just amazing.... of course that psi lifting helps...
