summer riding jacket options
i just sold my joe rocket phoenix jacket to a newbie friend. it was too short in the torso for me
what a re some good hot weather jackets out there? i migth just get a bigger phoenix. but i wouldnt mind something that maye was more comfortable..the phoenix felt like wearing a football jersey with a bunch of foam blocks in it (thats exactly what it was)
are the preforated leather jackets going to be much hotter? i mean they wont flow as much air as the big woven joe rocket stuff but mayve they will feel better cause they will block more of the sunlight beating down on you....
ideas?

riding in a drenched shirt sounds disgusting.. that will promote mildew on your body or something..
anyway, the majority of the vote goes to the Joe Rocket Mesh Jacket or the Alpine Star Mesh jackets.

i wouldn't risk it with textiles. the abrasion resistance of leather is just superior to most other materials out there for riding gear. why risk your own skin?

i just a joe rocket balistic jacket and i like it. the air goes right through. when you're riding it is like it isn't there....sorta
but it's a good jacket.

Mesh/ texttile jackets do pretty much nothing for protection except where the armor is. Have you seen what happens when those things hit the pavement? Leather all teh way. Better to sweat than bleed. Try wearing UnderArmour. It keeps you pretty cool especially if you have a perfed leather jacket. Great on long rides too so the leather doesnt stick to your body.

i dumped my bike in the parking lot, going 15mph MAX and i was wearing a joe rocket textile jacket. it got a 1" rip on the right sleeve and several places where it is about to start ripping. even with the armor on the elbows, i somehow managed to get a bit of road rash on my right elbow. so now i have an alpinestars tz-1 and in my opinion, it is pretty much the same when the weather is hot as when i wore my joe rocket. i am kinda glad that i got the leather jacket afterwards though... otherwise i'd have a buncha scratches on my leather jacket

This may sound dumb but my big heavy Dainese leather jacket actually flows a lot of air through it and is comfortable even in the heat. Especially in the armpit/shoulder area.

What jacket do you have? I have been checking out Dianese stuff as an upgrade from the current A*'s gear that I have so I am looking for any input I can get. Thanks

i am going to cyclegear in a bit to see what they have. i am running out of $$ but this is my safety we're talkoing about so i think the credit card is gonna have to just deal with it (me too)
i am a but skeptical on cyclegear's selection...do they even carry dianese? it seems that their inventory is mostly hit and miss...meaning their inventory is controlled by, if its not out on the floor then they'll order it and it'll show up eventually....
oh well we will see. i am leaning toward a leather perf jacket.

I have a Dainese shard. Cyclegear was having a sale on it not too long ago, I think it was $450 or something like that. I dunno if that will work in Texas heat though, out here in San Diego I consider 80 to be hot.
yeah, Sunday afternoons there are literally hundreds of sports bikes cruising the streets. Packs of 30 or 40 aren't uncommon but I'm uncomfortable riding in a group that large. People ride to close together.
