Default Piston/Wrist pin info needed... (708 pin)

Ive always been under the impression that anything smaller than a .748 pin on a street aplication wasnt a good idea. Recently though, Ive seen a few people with .708 pin set ups and It brought up a couple of questions for me...

1. Is there any real reliability sacrifice when running a .708 pin?

2. Is there any sacrifice in longevity at all?

Any feedback is greatly a preciated

Steve, doesnt your stroker piston set up use 708 pins? How have they worked on on daily drivers? Would it work with the H22 motor as well as it does on the B series?

yes, and they work flawlessly. they would work fine on an h22 as well, lisa used them to make.....mmmmm...about one thousand horsepower on her civic, so i'm sure they'll be fine for some 200 something hp n/a engine.

Honda also made the motor stock should we not build it either?

The .708 pin is fine for the street you will have no problims with it.

Like Steve said. I have also seen over 1000 hp on the .708 pin.

Dont be scared of the pin. Be scared of the guy putting it together. lol

MAX_CFM

Where to start lets see.

317 sets thats 1268 pistons with a.708 pin last year. 70% are stroker kits. I would say about 20% are turbo.
I have yet to see a Arias Piston D shape around the pin tower.
I have seen other brand pistons D shape due to improper pin engagment.
My new race car I use a .708 pin and it is only .060 straight wall no taper its about 34 grams.

To sum this all up.
Rick if you use a ARIAS Piston and a ARIAS Pin and they break because of the pin I personaly will give you a new set of pistons on me at no charge to you. Thats how sure I am that there is no prob running the .708 pin in a street car if you know what you are getting yourself into.

MAX_CFM
If you would like I can ship you a piston that I use in my own car so you can see how it works.
Let me know if you would like me to do this for you.

A little info for you.

I personally run a .708 pin in my friends street car now for about 2 years with aluminum rods and it is turbo charged. It makes about 600hp and we still run the same .708 pin when I built the motor.

Ok im not trying to be an ***
I have just built alot of engines and seen things......

I under stand on race engines.....
I run some pretty small stuff.....

But street engine making a ton of power I would feel safer with a big pin
Thats my 2 cents if you want me to check out some pistons
send them my way

What about a .669 pin, (17mm)? Would these in tool steel be able to support a 300+ HP engine?
