Default install it or wait on parts?

I got the components to build my b16 head which includes skunk stg2 cams. I know these cams are compression hungry to see better results but Im just worried about having small problems like lagging, bogging or what not and overcamming the motor.

Should I go ahead and install the cams or wait till I got the parts for the bottom end to up the compression? I still got a stock p2t ecu and I know tuning will be a bit tough. I plan to get the hondata s100 system to remedy that problem.

Im also stumped on my options to up the compression. Keep the b16 block with custom pistons for better revs? Or swap for bigger displacement for more torque? I just dont wanna make a decision im gonna regret.

any opinions are appreciated

Those cams will love compresion and displacement.

I would ditch the B16 bottom and go B20 or sleeved LS or B18C. You be much happier with the motor in the long run.

At least 11:0.1 compresion for Skunks stage two cams to utilize them to their potential.

so what happens when mated with the stock bottem end. Ive searched and found some people have done this with success. It wouldnt hurt me in any kind of way would it? I just plan on doing the bottom end later when I can save more $$.

you might lose power but not until 8400 maybe 3k - 4k range but vtec should perk it back up. but nothing like putting in some high cr pistons with the cams to make a complete package.you might as well wait until you can do it right, or just get a thinner headgasket for now.

thin head gasket will only give me 10:4 and its gonna be a long minute for me to get the bottom end how i want it ~which all includes having it balanced and such with new bearings and rings. I dunno... all this import stuff is killing me so much. Makes me wanna quit.

I just got arrested for bullshit charges and I think its a sign not to do anything to my motor. Life is quite interesting at 19.

As long as you get your dynamic compression back to stock (so you are not losing any cranking pressure) you will be fine.

However, I am unsure if a .4 increase will do this on the S2 stage 2's. Do you know the ABDC spec?

intake: 49° ABDC

exhaust: 21° ABDC

whatever all that means

I just installed the stage 2's in customer's gsr engine with stock compression, ported head,REV high compression flat valves,And rev springs/retainers and it did feel a little boggy until around 5600,than it just flew up to 8k rpm.I shifted there because it's not my car and if its going to blow up i want the owner to do it.Plus it had only 1 mile since all the work was done.
