Default alarm problem on 2004 accord ex

my friend recently purchased 2004 accord v6 ex coupe...he loves it but there is one problem, the alarm never goes off, i meant we try to hit everywhere on the car, including hood, trunk, door and even wheel. it will never go off, i meant how the hell will we know if someone breaks the glass and steal the **** from it or took the car away. so my friend went to the dealer yesterday and asked them if they can adjust the sensitivity of the alarm, the guy told him that it can't be adjusted, it will only go off if someone breaks the windshield or people try to get out of the car with alarm on. WTF kind of **** is this??? anyone here has the same problem? is it really can not be adjusted?

All I would say if I was the dealer is, it's not a Porsche, so don't expect it to go off or be overly sensitive. There are too many of these on the road and in mall parking lots to have every single alarm be sensitive to the point of going off for a few small vibrations felt by the body of the car...I'm no expert but using common sense, that would be my view.

I have an EX-L 03 sedan, and it's never gone off for me....then again, never tried hitting it for fear of going too far But one problem I'd like fixed, and not sure if the 04's address this, is that the sound the horn makes when one activates the alarm seems too loud in enclosed areas like parking garages, etc. I don't want the digital beep-beep of a Porsche, but damn, does it have to be that loud??

OK, I have an '04 Sedan EX-L - and I DO NOT have a sound when the alarm is set (very annoying). I just called the dealer and he said that can be changed, by holding down the "lock" and the "unlock" buttons on the remote until the horn sounds. Then I should have a horn sound when I activate the alarm. I will try this today.

Actually I don't trust the original alarm, from my past experience, the original alarm is not that great.
I got a 04 EX Accord coupe also, I have the same problem with the alarm too. It never goes off so after two weeks I still don't know what my alarm sounds like.
So I'm thinking to go and get another alarm from other places later on, I feel safer that way.

Get rid of that alarm! On my 1994 Accord it "came" with an alarm and it ALWAYS went off but it had a kill start on it so I was never able to start my car because the shitty dealership never gave me the paddle to shut it off. The factory alarms are just unreliable.

However, my 2003 Accord the alarm goes off if I close the trunk while it is set, I open the door or bump it. So I don't really have a problem with that car just had one with my 1994.

So I say have it removed and get another one. I did with my 1994 and I am SO happy I did.

Yeah all Honda factory alarms only go off when a door (hood/trunk/gas door) is opened when the alarm is armed. Roll down your windows and then arm the alarm and then open the door from the inside while standing outside the car. The alarm should go off. If it doesn't then you have a problem. If you want a shock sensor/proximity deal, go to circuit city, not the honda dealership.
