has anyone ever put a d16z into a 91 civic?
Depends on whether you want to do it, or do it right.
You can just do it by using a D16A6 distributor, ECU, and an RPM activated switch for vtec.
You can do it right by converting to OBD-1 and running a stock P28.
All the mounts and mount brackets from the orignial engine need to be transferred over to the Z6, and it will bolt right in. Stock linkage and axles also.

its already been done.. Ive swapped the engine mounts, and put my stock intake manifold. trany, and distributor on the new engine. And I purchased an rpm activated module to control the vtec... but now the engine wont fire up.
