Default air/fuel gauge install help!!!

ok so im trying to get my autometer a/f guage in my car.....its all put in and i connected the wires as follows:

Red - Ignition power
Black - ground on the unibody
Purple - o2 sensor

when i turn my key it flashes all the lights real quick, then i start it and it just stays with the most rich light on (only one light, all the way to the right)......i can rev the car and nothing happens.......

ive searched as much as i can but i keep getting vauge answers, and usually for a 4 wire o2, mine is a 1 wire....thanks for the help!

Let the warm up and it'll start working. It does that when the o2 is cold.

Yep, exactly. 4 wire O2 sensors are heated so they pretty much move the lights all the time, even at idle. 1 wire O2's have a tendency to cool off at idle, but once u start driving they get up to temp and the lights start to move.
