blow by ? ?
this is weird:
when i take off the oil cap when its running, oil is spraying out and air is coming out at pretty high pressure. when i raise the rpm a tiny bit, it goes away. i thought it was a serious problem but i dont know. how much blowby is normal at idle?

thats good it shows you have good oil pressure.whats not good is when smoke is coming out thats called blow by its caused by compression leaking thru your piston rings causing exsessive crankshaft pressure.but your good if its just oil

this is why I hate honda tech. you cant post anything without getting burned. my level of knowledge on engine theory and diagnosis is very high, i was just wondering how much blowby is average on a d series motor.
i want to know because im putting on an A6 head and multiport with a header. i dont want to do this if my motor has excessive blowby

So then why did you not think to put a DIY oil catch can on and find out how much is going through

its not that, its the amount of pressure being relieved with the oil cap off. it seems alot of compression is being lost. but my compression readings arent low.

Taking the oil cap off will not tell you anything. Your compression tool does not lie if used properly.
