Default Bumper Screws From Hell

so we go to remove my front bumper, i have all the bolts off, now onto the screws, bam can't get any off, i thought maybe they were painted or rusted on, so pried around each screw to loosen em, no luck, hit em, no luck, used every screw driver we had, electric screw drivers, power screw drivers, flat head, phillips, no luck, how the hell can we get these off without damaging anything?

and yes i searched for this so dont give me the "Search for this" bullshit, i went through like 540 of the 860 results..

I assume this is the first time the bumper is being taken off the car. That explains why the screws are stuck.
For the top screws. Push down had and turn at the same time. They'll break loose. I'm sure you'll strip a few of them in the process. If you do, get a dremel (if you have one) and cut a new slit for the screwdriver. And keep working at it.

are they the plastic screws? try using a ratchet with a socket with a philips bit. that way you can push down on it while you turn it.

GET A DAMN IMPACT DRIVER! 10 bucks at any autoparts store and itll get them out. Just hit a hammer on it and itll do the rest. Why make it so difficult by drilling the screws out? Then what your gonna pay 3 dollars for ONE screw? Those ******* arent cheap man.

I had this problem the first time I removed my bumper. I tried a screwdriver, then an impact driver (manual), then my screwgun. After stripping 3 of them, I got mad and just drilled out the ones I stripped. If you do drill it out make sure to keep it all lubricated so you don't mess anything up.

they are the ones the size of a quarter, i'll try the impact gun, but i've bashed em to hell with a hammer, everything, i'll try some pliers tonite if not i'l run to the hardware store and get an impact driver

if you break the screws, or fug em all up, can you find the same width screws at like homedepot?

i also did use a huge phillips, it was still stripping them, theyre like p.o.s metal

If push comes to shove, you can slit them with a dremel, but the impact driver is (was) the way to go.

Damn if you're running into trouble unscrewing the front bumper maybe you should stop before you do some damage. Like it has been said, if they are stubborn all you need to do is take an impact driver to them, not an impact gun.

This may sound funny but you honestly should because they stick up far enough, be able to grab the outer edges with a pair of plires and or visegrips. I have done this befoe as to not strip out the screws. I am assuming you are talking about the black large round bolts with the rubber grommits underneath? Should work.

Well i got them off, the rubber around em was partly why they were stuck on so tight. Vice grip didnt fit on the head nor did pliers.

I just did it to mine today, when I was putting my bumper back on. Using a small vice grip. That's weird

Go to your local hardware store and get a screw exstractor. Is like a drill bit but when you place it on the screw head and try and loosen it is "bites" into the screw head and it will unscrew them. Then you will need to order new screws from honda or just get some from the hardware store again. Put some anti-seize on them so you dont have this problem in the future. I had the same problem as you!
