The '99-00 Si cat-back exhaust is identical to the '96-00 EX exhaust.

I highly doubt the GSR catback flows any better.

hmmmm im trying to find a exhaust that is dead quiet, the only way i see doing this is by obtaining the highest flowing muffler, ITR and CTR are hard finds and i question their sound levels since ive never heard these in person....
can anyone confirm that SI and GSR are equal in flowing ability?

JDM is OEM. you're getting mixed up with USDM and JDM. they're both markets

USDM = US Domestic Market
JDM = Japanese Domestic Market

OEM = Original Emission Manufactuer (something like that)

I believe OEM= original equipment manufacturer(sp?) but who cares. I belive any oem exhaust will be quiet because of the fact that they dont flow well. As far as one oem muffler flowing better than another...think they are all the same as long as its a dohc muffler. correct me if any of this info is wrong

yes, you can. you might have to get some cutting and welding done though.
what piping will you be mounting those mufflers to? don't use your stock piping.

i have a gsr in a 00 si, si greddy cat back with a dc 4-1 gsr header and i needed a test pipe welded in. its no big deal just do the exhaust that is for your body and the header that fits the engine then get a exhaust shop to mate them up

you could do what my bro did in his sleeper civic, put 2.5" piping to a stock gsr muffler, its not loud at all , you can hear intake way more then muffler and thats with a gutted cat. by the way it sounds good and quiet until you get on it and even then its not that loud at all

with 2.5" piping were the power gains still significant with the OEM muffler???

jdm catalytic convertors are shorter than US catalytic convertors. I think the jdm is about 12" long and the US is around 16". If you buy a si or gsr b pipe then you will have to extend it if you want to run a jdm cat (or jdm test pipe). Or you could just get a US high flo cat. I have a carsound hi flo with 2.25" piping and a chambered no name muffler on mine and it's quiet. (That's on a d series sohc vtec though)
