Default A1, S1, Y1 and YS1

I'm not trying to sound repedative, but I asked this question before and someone sent me a long list about B-Series trannys. All I really need to know is, which trannys, USDM or JDM, will fit on my JDM B16A(first gen.) I just took off an S1 and it is blown. I can't find parts for it, so I'm just going to get a differnt one. Please help!!! Thanx

Well reading that he has a blown S1 tranny, it must be cable.

boy_wonder69,

Any of the tranny's you listed (A1, S1, Y1, YS1, & J1) will all fit B16 engine. The best choice (because of excellent gearing) out of all them are the S1, J1, and YS1.....YS1 being the best because they sometimes come LSD equipped whereas S1 & J1's were never LSD equipped. YS1's have the same gearing as an ITR transmission.

A1 = US LS tranny (longer gearing)
S1 = US LS tranny (longer gearing) & JDM B16 tranny(short geared)
J1 = JDM B16 tranny (short geared)
Y1 = JDM B16 tranny (short gear but long final drive) sometimes LSD equipped
YS1 = US B17 tranny (short geared) & JDM B16A XSi/RSi tranny (short geared) sometimes LSD equipped

S1's are the same as an ITR tranny I thought. Actually YS1's are even shorter geared than the ITR.

S1's almost are, I believe the 5th gear ratio is shorter than an ITR's 5th, but all other gears are the same spec/ratio.

in contrast..

The YS1's have a tighter 1st gear, and the rest of the gears match that of an ITR's gear ratio's.

Don't forget however, that there are LS YS1's from the 92-93 tegs. Make sure you get a GSR one.
