Default Im new here, can someone help me out?

Hi guys, my name is Erik and Im new to the Honda-Acura scene.I know some of the language, but i need real expertise and expert opinions on my next project.
I would like to start from scratch and build a stout integra for street use and possibly show.i want to use the 94-01 body with the jdm front clip(one piece headlights). My first question is, does it matter what kind of base car i get.are there any differences body-wise concerning the packages the cars came with? It will be a 2 door body style.Next question is engine. I have heard so many different things to do, i am very confused.i have heard swaps from B18c1,B18c5,B20b,B20z,Frankenstein motors,Etc. I want to produce at most 400hp with the option of Forced induction. Like i said, im new to this side of the car scene. My last project was a 1995 GMC Yukon 2 door 4X4(4 inch suspension lift,BFG a/t's,4 eclipse aluminum 12's,2 memphis 1000ds,)which id like to sell by the way. i know this may sound like a lot to ask for, but if anyone has any time to help me out, i would be greatly appreciative. Thanks. i can be E-mailed at ehoward@att.net

94-01 bodies are all the same. minor cosmetic changes only. mostly concerning the FRONT of the car, if you say your doing a jdm conversion it wont matter.

Welcome to honda-tech. Since you took time to type your post out and seem to actually want to learn Ill give ya a hand instead of saying Search (which I would recomend)

94-2001. It wont matter what style you get the JDM front end will fit on them all. If you want to peice it together; Id get a 94 Teg and switch the bumpers over off of a 98+ integra. People seem to like the new bumpers more (front+rear)

As for the motors thats up to you. 400whp is IMPOSSIBLE on a bseries motor. Boost is definalely your only option. 400whp is close to 5k to do though keep that in mind (if not more)

EDIT: forgot you were getting JDM front...no need for the 98+ front bumper...maybe the rear tho

NA, never going to happen, but with boost and money it happens regularly.

Highest NA integra I've ever seen was Erick's Racing integra at 278whp or something. It also redlines at 10,800 and is not streetable.

You could have that much power easily with boost and it would be a lot more reliable - although even with an intercooled setup that might be dangerous with a B18C on pump gas and stock internals.

If you want to reliably have 400whp, you are going to need to spend much more then 4K on the motor. Sleeving, pistons, rods, valvetrain, turbo, intercooler, fuel system, exhaust, etc, etc.... Your goals are absolutely attainable, but it's going to take time and money. Good luck with your project.

Thanks for your replies, im not necessarily wanting big power, but i would like to find a good block that can hold between 200-400 hp. I dont have to have 400, I just dont know what good setups are in the honda-acura world. I live in Northwest Georgia where Jesus is your mullet headed mechanic, God is a 454 big block, and the road to salvation is a shitty *** 1/8th mile track down the road. There a Very FEW nice import cars down here where i am as well as the term nice cars at all. 99% of them are "Dressed up" in their Autozone attire of hideous apc,NOS,and F&F stickers, dark purple and bubbled self applied window tint,3 level wings made of painted vinyl siding and 2x4s, huge coffee can mufflers that sound like a nest of pissed off bumblebees, and non painted bondo body kits with 1 to 3 inch gaps where it doesnt fit right. Oh and i shouldn't forget to mention the new craze of 13-15inch plastic spinning hub dubs. I just want to do something different from this generation of mine that is going to import hell. With all of you guys helping and input, i plan make a mark in my neck of the woods that will help the other 1% with nice sport compact cars start a change that will hopefully create a new breed of enthusiast down here that respects both domestic and import qualities and capabilities. And to stop most of us enthusiasts from looking like fools in the public's/media's eyes (thanks to the ricer crowd). I do have friends who own some very nice cars.My friend andy has a 95 civic hatchback with a 98 LS motor and tranny swap, My friend Jeremy has a 94 4door accord ready to put an H22 in it. Like i said though they are part of the 1%. Ill put pics up soon if anyone would like to see them. But back to the engine question, what are my advantages of picking a type R motor over a "frankenstein"B20 and vice versa? thanks again for all advice and inputs.

OH and sorry about my sudden anger and frustration concerning the F**kA$$es in my corner of the Southeast US. ANyone who claims the title tuner down here will have to have many credentials for me to begin to put respect with that meaning.

it all depends which way you wanna go.... personally if I was going to build something with decent power goals 300-400whp, I would stick with a b18c1. no doubt about it you are going to have to some sort of forced induction if you want that kind of power.

what it really comes down to is how much money you have to spend off the bat. in my personal opinion, if you are going to turbo, might as well save yourself some money on the b18c1 over the b18c5. yes the itr has a slightly better flowing head, and better transmission, but the gsr's is more then compentent in attaining the goals you have.

as for the b20, know that if you want to boost it right off the bat you will need to sleeve it. the b20 has thinner cylinder walls then other b-series blocks, you can make great power with them, but they will come at a higher start up cost.

I hope these things have helped. Good Luck!

with a big enough turbo and some decent tuning you can run all kinds of crazy hp.

Know a guy who used to be making something around 510 range@28psi with a T04/57 trim turbo.
