Installing Cams tomorrow--break in period?
Im installing Crower stage 2s in my h22a tomorrow. Its a 98 JDM motor and am also installing crower retainers and springs as well as doing the auto to manual tensioner upgrade. Is there a break in period for cams? I have heard from a few people that their arent, but I would like to know. Also, do you guys have any times to make this go smoothly?
Note: I just read the crower site on installation and it says to not use synthetic oils during the break in period and to only use petroleum based oils. Im not really sure which I should use for the oil. Also, what kind of lube should I use for the cams? They gave me a small tube with the cams but I would like more in case I need it.

when installing them, just make sure and cover every cam journal and lobe with a thin layer of assembly lube, thats whats included with ur cam.
then when u start it up, leave it idling for about 20-30mins, and ur breakin is done, now go out and enjoy,
as far as the oil goes, i really don't konw if synthetic would affect it, so i just switched to regular oil to be on the safe side. then changed it out really quick, since u did just install a new moving item in the engine and there is bound to be a tiny bit of metal that wears off of it, so i guess better safe than sorry.

Hey, what did you guys do when you needed to compress the valve springs? Did you buy a tool or does someone rent it out? Expensive? I was going to install the cams today but my manual tensioner parts dont come in until next wed so i will do it then.
I just went out and bought the keys for the camshafts and just gathering parts now. I also have 2 honda cam seals that came with the camshafts. Are there any other seals to replace? I will not be taking out the head-probably just use an air compressor or something.
