Default Strange Lack of Power Problem - Can Any1 plz help?

Hi
I have a 94 JDM Vtec with a strange problem. When the car has been driven for around 25 miles it looses most of its power. The temperature guage never rises above 1/2 way, and the check engine light has not come on.

It still drives, but if I try to accelerate hard, it sounds as though its choking and the exhaust changes tone to a much deeper sound. I smelt fuel when I stopped at a junction whilst this was occuring, but not sure if it was from my car, or the car infront.

If I leave the car off for a while, it returns to normal, thus inidcating that it has to be something to do with heat, but if that was the case, wouldn't the problem be occuring before the 25m mark - surley the car would reach top temp way before then.

I have changed the Plugs, Leads, Fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, all new belts (recenlty - so timing can't be an issue), have a custom exhaust with a de-cat pipe (thought this may be a problem but if it did, wouldn't it be a problem all the time?)

Anyone experienced similar problems or have any ideas on a resolution?

Thanks in advance

Triv
