Default selector shaft oil seal....help!!

I have a 90 CRX Si, 5 spd...so whatever tranny goes with that..don't know the part number...anyways...

Is it possible to change the selector shaft/shift linkage oil seal without taking the tranny apart. As in, can i slide the seal off the shaft with the linkage disconnected or do i need to take off the tranny and remove the inards. I know i cannot remove the inner selector rod without taking apart the tranny because it holds down the detent spring and ball.

Any help would be appreciated!
